Bhagwad Gita is a complete philosophy which touches all areas of human life. Right from our personal relations to professional relations and from our aspirations to duties it guides about everything. Being one of the most practical philosophies if learnt & perceived right, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Gita guides us thoroughly about complete physical and mental health too!
Lord Krishna defines What is health in probably the most perfect words. He quotes,
A person is who eats and sleeps optimally, works at an optimal level & involves himself into recreational activities along-with regular Yoga is able to free himself from all worldly pains. By this he means we need to maintain a balance in the amount of eating, sleeping, working, reacreation & Yoga to be able to avoid any sorrow in our lives.
Lord Krishna proposes one of the best ways to staying healthy by quoting,
Here Lord tells us to practice Pranayama – the exercise of controlling the process of inhalation & exhalation and speed & energy of every breath. Pranayama helps curing, reversing and further preventing ailments and illness of human body and bodily systems. Moreover, gaining control over breath helps the Sadhak (aspirant) to gain control over his senses and cravings and that plays a huge role in reducing stress.
Lord Krishna propagates meditation as a very important practice for mental peace. He very beautifully quotes,
Here, Lord Krishna tells us about how by controlling his mind and withdrawing it from material desires through meditation, one may be able to achieve supreme peace. Peace of mind is what we all seek for in our day to day life and meditation proves to be one of the most effective ways to achieve the same. Peace of mind increases the liveliness in life and adds zeal to our day to day activities producing our overall efficiency in all areas of life.
As the beautiful adage suggests, “One may follow his own way of life imperfectly rather than imitating someone else’s life perfectly”, Lord Krishna too preaches the same concept by quoting,
Following our own heart and discharging our own to duties irrespective of how difficult they are and how imperfect we are in the process of learning it is definitely better than following someone else’s path perfectly. Ultimately the latter leads to frustration and stress resulting into ill health.
One of the most famous Lord Krishna’s messages talks about the theory of Karma where he quotes,
If we understand the concept that we have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but are not entitled to the fruits of action.
This verse strongly recommends that one should do his own efforts for achieving his goals or discharging his duties but should not expect a particular result. This is an important lesson that needs to be remembered in order to tackle today’s stressful times. Complete100% effort in one’s own duty leads to greater confidence & peace in life keeping away from anxiety and related stress.
Folks, read Gita and understand the eternal message, follow the lessons, practice consistently and achieve best of Physical and Mental health.
