The blue colour of Lord Krishna is not the blue colour of his skin. Krishna as we all know was dark skinned. But the blue colour of his incarnation has got to do more with his Aura.

An aura is a certain field of energy that is around every substance. Krishna since his birth was simply irresistibly attractive. As per the experts of science of Aura, it is the blueness of one’s aura which suddenly makes a person irresistibly attractive. Anyone who was dynamic was blue.

Blue Colour is considered as a Colour of all-inclusiveness. In Universe and around, we can see that anything that is vast and beyond our perception generally tends to be blue. For example, the vast ocean, the day round sky and even the night sky with uncountable stars.

Krishna the incarnation of Lord Vishnu is someone who is all inclusive. There are beautiful verses in the chapter 11 in Lord’s Bhagwad Gita describing the same.

While savouring the nectar of Lord’s philosophy before the onset of Mahabharat war, Arjuna pleads his eternal consort, friend, cousin, guide, philosopher, strategist and war charioteer Krishna to show his Real Universal form.

He pleads,

O Lord of all mystic powers, if you think I am strong enough to behold it, then kindly reveal that imperishable cosmic form to me.

Lord Krishna with his ever-enigmatic smile says to him,

Dear Arjuna, you cannot see Me with your present eyes. Therefore, I give you divine eyes by which you can behold My mystic opulence.

Next 2 verses describe Arjuna’s reaction and expression on seeing Lord Krishna’s Universal form.

Arjuna saw in that universal form unlimited mouths and unlimited eyes. It was all wondrous. The form was decorated with divine, dazzling ornaments and arrayed in many garbs.

The form was garlanded gloriously, and there were many scents smeared over His body. All was magnificent, all-expanding, unlimited. This was seen by Arjuna.

At that time Arjuna could see in the universal form of the Lord the unlimited expansions of the universe situated in one place although divided into many, many thousands.

With great difficulty, Arjuna manages to talk to Lord. Following few verses are Arjuna describing what he sees to Lord.

My dear Lord Krishna, I see assembled together in Your body all the demigods and various other living entities. I see Brahma sitting on the lotus flower as well as Lord Siva and many sages and divine serpents.

O Lord of the universe, I see in Your universal body many, many forms-bellies, mouths, eyes-expanded without limit. There is no end, there is no beginning, and there is no middle to all this.

Your form, adorned with various crowns, clubs and discs, is difficult to see because of its glaring effulgence, which is fiery and immeasurable like the sun.

You are the origin without beginning, middle or end. You have numberless arms, and the sun and moon are among Your great unlimited eyes. By Your own radiance You are heating this entire universe.

Although You are one, You are spread throughout the sky and the planets and all space between. O great one, as I behold this terrible form, I see that all the planetary systems are perplexed.

The above verses indicate that Krishna was all inclusive and his real Universal form was astounding.

This Vishwaroop Darshan – i.e., the Universal form of Krishna has got a deeper meaning.

The concept of “Yatha Bramhande, tatha Pinda” forms the base of Hindu philosophy. It means, “As is the universe, so is the man” or “As is the Macro, So is the Micro”.

In Vishwaroop Darshan, this concept is expressed in human form with multiple limbs only to accommodate the large information which when expanded, will contain the universe

When Lord Krishna refers as “I”, it is the universal. “I” represents you, me and everybody.

According to me, Arjuna represents us, especially the educated and skilled intellectuals today. We are curious, need answers to questions and be convinced to do something before we start.

Though Krishna was a cousin, friend, guide, philosopher, confidante and in the war a charioteer to Arjuna, we have to see the fact that Arjuna always held Krishna in high regard and trusted him with everything he told. This was more out of respect and faith in Krishna’s teachings than out of love. He surrendered himself to Krishna without knowing his Vishwaroop yet, which shows the infallible faith of Arjuna in Lord Krishna.

Even when we seek for answers we too should be able to have a candour and faith in the source of Knowledge, be it our Guru or the scriptures. Seeking answers to reach a goal in this fashion definitely helps us to understand better, research to depths and find out our navigation map too!

Such is the beauty of beloved Blue Krishna and his magnificence. Understanding the very fact that we are just a speck of the universe, helps us to win our ego, pass this ocean of maya- illusion and achieve our goals.
